(Schizachyrium scoparium) A clump-forming shorter prairie grass that is good for erosion control. At one time little bluestem prairie grass grew in 45 states and was the most abundant grass in mid-America. This prairie grass plants turn a striking orange-red in the fall and are topped by fluffy silvery-white seed heads. Provides cover and food for birds.
